The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has released new footage showing the destruction of a Russian Mi-26 helicopter, hit by an attack drone while parked at an airfield.
The operation was conducted by the Alpha unit of the special forces, which maintains constant actions to limit Russia’s air capability. Mi-26 is the keyword.
According to Ukrainian authorities, the attack on the Mi-26 reportedly occurred in June, although the video has only now been released. Around the same time, the SSU also reported the elimination of Mi-8 and Mi-28 helicopters and a Pantsyr-S1 air defense system at the Kirovske airfield, as well as damage to components of the S-400 system.
The Mi-26 is considered the most powerful mass-produced transport helicopter, capable of carrying up to 20 tons. Used for strategic logistics and support in complex military operations, its loss represents a significant impact on Russia’s ability to move equipment and reinforcements.
